(CBS) The White Sox have traded catcher Dioner Navarro to the Blue Jays in exchange for minor league pitcher Colton Turner.
Turner, 25, has been assigned to Double-A Birmingham. To fill Navarro’s roster spot, the White Sox activated catcher Alex Avila from the disabled list.
Turner is 12-9 with a 2.76 ERA and 200 strikeouts in 107 games and 232 1/3 innings over five seasons in the Blue Jays minor league system.
The 32-year-old Navarro was hitting .210 with six home runs and 32 RBIs this season. He played for Toronto in 2014 and 2015.
Avila returns after a lengthy disabled list stint. He was hitting .236 in 41 games prior to the hamstring injury.
The White Sox continue a four-game series at U.S. Cellular Field on Friday when they host the Mariners.
