(CBS) The White Sox and catcher Dioner Navarro have agreed on a one-year deal, Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported Thursday morning. The signing is pending a physical.
The addition comes one day after Chicago declined to tender a contract to 29-year-old catcher Tyler Flowers, who hit .239 with nine homers and 39 RBIs in 112 games in 2015. A switch hitter, the 31-year-old Navarro hit .246 with five homers and 20 RBIs in 54 games last season for the Blue Jays.
The White Sox also recently signed catcher Alex Avila, a lefty hitter who batted .191 with four homers and 13 RBIs in 67 games last season.
